Why I Must Exercise…

… aka Does Exercise Really Make You Healthier?

The recommended level of weekly activity for adults is:

  • at least 2.5 hours moderately OR 1 hour 15 minutes vigorously;
  • preferably spread through the week;
  • each session should last at least 10 minutes; and
  • apparently, if weight loss is a goal, keeping a food diary doubles the amount of weight loss.

For additional benefits,

  • 5 hours of moderate intensity physical activity, OR 2.5 hours vigorously, OR some combo of the two
  • moderate/high intensity muscle-strengthening exercises working out the entire body at least 2 days a week.

erm. I’m not too ambitious. Reaching recommended activity levels will be a challenge already.
