Going Green #1: SIGG it~

In line with my “go green” philosophy this year, one of the first things I did after coming back to Tokyo, was to go buy me a SIGG bottle. The main objective was to have my own bottle so that I wouldn’t be buying and throwing a pet bottle for every day that I worked.

One of my big problems with this going-green thing so far, is that sometimes there are too many factors to consider even though all I want is to make a simple purchase. With this bottle, it wasn’t that bad, but still…

I was torn between the Swiss-made SIGG or the local (but sometimes made in China?) brands… I reckon buying closer means a smaller carbon footprint, right? Then I wondered if the raw materials were any different… what was the difference between all those bottles etc… on and on…

Ended up pacing up and down between the shelves for about I don’t know, maybe 20 minutes? Which is about 10 times my usual decision-making time. The salespeople must have been wondering what I was going to steal. Yeah, I think too much. I’ve since decided that it’s not productive to spend so much time trying to self-debate the pros and cons, that it’s enough that I try.

In the end, I decided that I trust the Swiss more than the Chinese (the fact that Jason Mraz has one too helped :P) and bought this pretty little thing. Love the sakura and the butterflies~

Whichever was the actual better decision, I’m glad I got this. Even though it cost almost 3000 yen, it’s worked out to about 100 yen per use right now, which is already cheaper than buying a drink every day. After I use it for about a year, it’ll cost only 10 yen per use at no extra cost to anyone else :) I love counting the price of my purchases on a per-use basis.

It’s probably just me but doesn’t today feel like a Sunday? The thought of going to work tomorrow. Bleah.
