I can’t pinpoint the exact moment in my life when I started believing in Cosmic Signs, but over the years, I’ve come to believe that the Universe (and what/whoever else, like Spirit Guides etc) sends/leaves us messages all the time, it’s just whether we notice and recognise them.
On my part, I haven’t always paid attention to signs, but a major one for me was seeing cars going in the wrong direction on a one-way street, on two separate occasions, over a short period of time in 2001. I was wondering if I wanted to stay with the company I was with at that point. It was probably around then I started to look out for signs more actively.
So, what’s a sign?
Signs can be rather subtle for the most part (to me, anyway). If you’re not paying attention, they’ll just slip by unnoticed. Occasionally, they get pretty big, especially when you need a smack on the head. It’s kinda like messages going into a mailbox, or actually, how about a septic tank – if you keep clearing and cleaning it, it’ll be decent and keep working properly. But if you don’t, one day the pressure from the buildup might cause the tank to explode and cover you in shit :) Kinda like a bad Saturn Return actually. And always reminds me of The Big Flood.
For the longest time though, I was terribly confused by Signs. Did they show up to provide guidance? Or did they show up to test my commitment to whatever/whoever was going on in my life at that time? About a year ago, I decided that they generally appear to guide (and sometimes warn), rather than to test. They also appear more than once, especially if you haven’t taken any action or are still in the deliberating mode. I guess I decided to trust in the Universe, rather than be suspicious of it :)
Another problem I had with signs was, “Is it a sign???!” or “Am I overreading?” I still wrestle with this sometimes, but perhaps because my Guides tend to deliver messages through people I meet, I think I’ve learnt this past year to recognise a message through the tonnes of students I’ve met through work. Since I usually let the student drive the conversation, anything that keeps coming up, say more than 3 times in a short period of time, I will take note of it. I don’t necessarily act on it (like I can’t pop off to Manchu Picchu suddenly), but I just pay attention, maybe read up a little if I have time. Of course, if every single student comes in and talks about snowboarding, that’s not a sign. It’s winter!!!
And speaking of signs, (this is more synchronicity actually) I don’t have time to check my Google Reader every day, but yesterday I did, and found Jason Mraz’s latest post. Which reminded me that to get back to this post which I started 3 days ago. (See!!!! Things like this just reinforce my belief in cosmic energies and the collective (un)consciousness.)
Anyway, what brought this on was that while my life has always been filled with signs and synchronicities, in the past 3 years, they’ve been growing. Especially last year, there was an absolute influx of them. Of course my life is not perfect, but it feels really great to be “tuned in”, so I’m just hoping that others will experience the same thing too. Plus, I’m also curious to know how other people get signs and their stories too :)

so what’s the signs of crabs… papa crab and baby crab? :)
I thought the sign was so funny… it can mean so many things..
-> crabs crossing, watch out
-> walk on your own when you go out with your dad
-> jump as high as you can when you have to cross water. :P
ya… i’m in a spas mood this morning.
The head of my smurf is falling off. So ominous!!
