Julia’s Stupid Microwave Tricks: How to shrink wrap your food
Shrinkwrap :)

I didn’t have much in the fridge, and neither did I have the energy to cook tonight, so I picked up something from the bakery for dinner on the way home and that’s what happened after it met the microwave. Perhaps it was the wrong food to eat while watching Blueberry Nights, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t cause the movie to become one big yawn. Jude Law was terribly easy on the eyes and I’d completely forgotten that Natalie Portman was in the film, so that was kinda a pleasant surprise. But what a walk in the park for them, this looks-like-first-time-director piece… sigh. The cinematography was gorgeous but it was oh so boring. I guess I didn’t get the ‘mood’ at all.

Actually, after watching Red Cliff Part II (yes, finally!) with my friend Mayumi and talking about Lee Ang over dinner, I’d meant to rent The Ice Storm last night, but Tsutaya didn’t have it, and somehow I ended up with this instead. Red Cliff was worth the wait though, I’m glad I went to the cinema to see it, though it burnt a 1800-yen big hole in my pocket. Sitting in the fifth row, it was a little disconcerting to see Tony Leung and Kaneshiro Takeshi almost kiss each other twice. Oh, and I didn’t like the bit with the sister’s love story. Other than that, I liked all the suspense and action, even though it was all very predictable. If they make a lovely box set with lots of extras, I might even decide to buy it.
